Myanmar Stoves Campaign
The SLOW LIFE Foundation is nominated for its innovative Myanmar Stoves Campaign.

The Myanmar Stoves Campaign aims to mobilise USD 10m of investment to distribute efficient cook stoves to over one million households in rural areas of Myanmar.

Benefits of the project to the local community are extensive including monetary savings for households, protection of biodiversity, training and employment opportunities and health benefits from significantly reduced indoor air pollution. All of this can be achieved while offering supporters an attractive return on investment.

Endorsed by the Government
The campaign was endorsed by the Myanmar Ministry of Environmental Conservation and Forestry in January this year.

It is the first Gold Standard carbon credit project registered in Myanmar. It not only addresses deforestation, but also one of the most pressing health issues in the world – indoor air pollution that kills more people that Aids and Malaria do combined in a year.

In just a couple of month the 17 local vendors trained has distributed all the initial 969 stoves. With the arrival of another 2,332 stoves this week there will certainly be more families benefiting from less smoke, less wood consumption and lower household spend on cooking fuel.

The SLOW LIFE Foundation works with Orbis Development Partner on the carbon registration and project management side and Mercy Corps on the implementation.

Leading sustainable business community
The 2degrees Network is a world’s leading community for sustainable business; working together to drive efficiency and growth through being more sustainable.

It consists of 37,410 plus individual professionals and businesses who use the online platform and unique events program to share best practice and solve common business problems together.

You can cast your vote here until 18 April, though you have to be a member. Membership is free.
